WEST NYACK - The priest at a West Nyack church washed the feet of the parishioners yesterday during Holy Thursday observances.

Holy Thursday commemorates when Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his apostles, which is the very first Mass. The washing of the feet is something that  Jesus is said to have done during the occasion.

"Jesus did it and he said to the apostles, ‘I am giving you an example to follow: just as i have served you, you must serve others,’" said Friar Robert McKeon, of the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Holy Week continues through Easter Sunday.
