HAWTHORNE - The rain came down so hard and fast Monday night, some drivers wound up stuck in high-rising waters.

Cars were stuck in Hawthorne on several roadways, including Stephens Avenue and Memorial Drive.

A giant sinkhole added to the mess when it opened up in Mount Pleasant on Commerce Street. The street was closed so that Con Edison workers could take a closer look, and drivers were diverted to other routes.
