POMONA - The Rockland Boulders are gearing up for their season, which will include hosting two Japanese baseball teams.

The Shikoku Island League is bringing some of its players to Provident Bank Park in Pomona.

The Japanese team will compete against all the teams in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball League over the course of several weeks, playing close to 30 games.

Four of those games will be in Rockland from June 18 to 21.

Fireworks and fun are also on tap for that weekend. The Rockland Boulders hopes to hit a home run with fans locally, and abroad.

The leagues hope to continue the relationship, saying the Canadian players may get a chance to play in Japan.

The Rockland Boulders' season starts May 21; tickets went on sale last week.
