POMONA - Rockland County has sold the Summit Park Nursing Home in Pomona to a private bidder for $36 million.
The county sold the nursing home to a private bidder, hoping the sale will offset the county's multimillion-dollar deficit.
Employees at the nursing home say they have received little information about the sale. Those on the night shift say they were among the last to know about the sale, with one telling News 12 she learned about it online. With the county selling the nursing home to a private bidder, employees say they are concerned they will lose their county benefits.
Alden Wolfe, chairman of the Rockland County legislature, says a local development corporation board made sure the bidder had the employees' needs in mind. He also says the 200 patients living at the nursing home will stay where they are.
