Rockland County social workers count homeless population
SPRING VALLEY - Social service workers in Rockland County were out Tuesday counting the homeless population in the area.
Workers utilized the Point in Time count, which helps the county determine and document their homeless population.
In Spring Valley, three workers from the Department of Social Services searched abandoned buildings and railroad overpasses to look for any homeless people. Social workers say it is especially important in the cold weather to find these people since they are able to offer them services and get them to warming centers.
