NYACK - Rockland community members are remembering a longtime human rights activist and community leader Wednesday after his recent death. 

Dr. Willie Bryant, 77, passed away on Dec. 28, 2015. He was a lifelong member of the NAACP, a former Army officer and helped build businesses in the area.

A wake for Bryant will be held Friday, Jan. 8, followed by a funeral on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Nyack.
