RAMAPO - Family members of some of the victims of 9/11 came together in Rockland County for a special ceremony.

An emotional ceremony was held today at Ramapo Town Hall in remembrance of all the Ramapo residents who lost their lives in 9/11.

While each's story is different, the spirit of the day is the same - to make sure their loved ones are never forgotten

Julius Grafeman's son David was on the 89th floor when the planes hit. "He had 13 minutes to get down...unfortunately he never did.”

Dorothy Richard’s husband Vernon was captain in the FDNY and his whole rig went down on 9/11. Dorothy and her daughter today paid tribute to a man who was a true hero. "My loved one still lives on in my heart every day - he's never going to be forgotten," says Richard. Vernon Richard just had a school in Brooklyn named after him this year, and his family says they hope the school stays open so his memory can live on.

At the end of the ceremony, a flower remembrance was placed where an actual piece of the World Trade Center stands outside Ramapo Town Hall.
