PIERMONT - Hundreds of people are expected to gather for Piermont's eighth annual Bastille Day celebration Saturday.

Organizers say the lives lost in the France terror attack will be remembered with a moment of silence.

Daot Celestine, owner of Sidewalk Bistro in Piermont, started the village's Bastille Day celebration in 2009. Celestine grew up in Nice. He says his family and friends in France are safe.

According to officials, security will be increased Saturday to ensure that everyone in Piermont is safe.

"We're going to get some mutual aid from adjoining departments and most of all officers are going to be on high alert," says Piermont Police Chief Michael O'Shea.

Piermont Avenue will be closed to traffic starting 12 p.m. Saturday.
