NEW CITY - The sentencing of a Wesley Hills man who admitted to killing his estranged girlfriend last year has been delayed, angering the victim's family.

Riad Dib, 66, beat 68-year-old Cecille Garbarino with a boot inside her Wesley Hills home last January. He admitted his guilt back in September.

Dib was supposed to be sentenced today, but before Garbarino's son Michael could give his victim's impact statement, Dib stood up and through his Syrian interpreter said his lawyers failed to adequately represent him. The judge then had no choice but to allow him to make the argument in writing, delaying sentencing for weeks.

Dib's new sentencing date is Feb. 4.
