SPRING VALLEY - A Spring Valley man is behind bars this morning after being arrested in the stabbing of a transgender man.

Police say Eddy Perez-Zenteno, 31, is charged with attempted murder and assault.

Investigators say he stabbed the 25-year-old victim several times in the chest and neck at a house on East Church Street Monday. Police say the two knew each other, but haven’t said whether being transgender is relevant to the stabbing.

Officials say the victim is recovering at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.
