Storms knock out power to region

Fast-moving powerful thunderstorms caused wide-spread damage to the region last night. Wind gusts up to 60 mph knocked down tree and power lines.

NYACK - Fast-moving powerful thunderstorms caused wide-spread damage to the region last night.

Wind gusts up to 60 mph knocked down tree and power lines.

A spokesperson for Central Hudson Gas and Electric says that at the height of the storm, over 1,200 customers had power outages. A spokesperson for Orange & Rockland Utilities says 3,687 of their customers lost power. Both companies say power has been restored to all of those customers already.

NYSEG reports that 390 customers had no power this morning, while Con Ed says there was only about 40 customers in the dark. Both utilities expected those outages to be repaired shortly.
