ORANGEBURG - An almost 100-year-old family matzo business on the Lower East Side of Manhattan is relocating to Rockland County.

The Streit family has been in business, making matzo on Rivington Street since 1925.

The machines inside the old tenement building where the Streit factory is located will soon be switched off and the factory is set to be torn down in a couple of weeks.

The company is relocating to a new location just off of Route 303 in Orangeburg.

"We wanted to remain in a community setting and still be a part of a vibrant Jewish community and we thought Rockland County really made sense for us," says Aaron Gross, co-owner of Streit's Matzos.

News 12 is told that the factory will create dozens of jobs, including positions for current workers.

In addition to the new factory, a documentary based on the life of Aron Streit, the founder of Streit’s Matzos, premiered Wednesday in West Nyack.
