SUFFERN - Early morning commuters will be facing a detour while traveling through Suffern this Thursday.

After 5 a.m., Orange Avenue will be closed for several hours while crews demolish what's left of the once-popular Hotel Lafayette.

The entirety of the building would have already been taken down were it not for stability concerns. The high-powered demolition excavator will methodically bring the rest of the building in on itself.

The street should reopen once the demolition work is finished.
