Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center to reopen under new management

SUGAR LOAF - The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center will raise its curtains once again under new management.

Officials announced Friday that the Mid-Hudson Civic Center will now be taking over as manager of the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center immediately and plans to purchase the center in the coming months.

Since the theater went dark last fall, the community is hoping that the new deal will not only reopen the center, but also make it a star. Many also hope that filling the seats at the center again will bring a boom to local businesses.

Anything that would take place under the performing arts umbrella will take place indoors and outdoors at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center including symphony and musical performances, comedy shows and more.

Officials say the center is already trying to bring in new shows and hopes to open again in the early summer.
