CLARKSTOWN - The suspended Clarkstown police chief is facing misconduct charges and an incompetence charge, according to papers released by his attorney.

The papers state that Police Chief Michael Sullivan is facing six counts of misconduct related to insubordination and one count of incompetence.

The town board says Sullivan refused to reassign a police sergeant as instructed and spoke to board members without talking to the town attorney first. The board also says Sullivan posted comments related to a matter that has been the subject of litigation on social media.

Sullivan denies all of the accusations in a letter to the town supervisor. He was suspended last week.
