YONKERS - A heat advisory was in effect Monday for the Hudson Valley during the region's first official heat wave of the year.

Some residents sought a respite at Oakland Beach to beat the heat, but the chance of electrical storm forced the beach to close. It is scheduled to open at regular time Tuesday, weather permitting.

News 12 meteorologists say that the heat will continue for the next three days with highs in the low-90s or high-80s.

The extreme heat is expected to break on Friday with temperatures back to the low-80s.
