Town of Tuxedo votes in favor to build 238-acre casino near Sterling Forest

The majority of Tuxedo residents say they are opposed to the casino plan due to potential traffic issues, crime and congestion. (5/12/14)

TUXEDO - The Town of Tuxedo voted in favor Monday of a developer's plan to build a 238-acre casino near Sterling Forest.

The plan is one of several casino proposals that state officials are mulling over after Gov. Andrew Cuomo promised to build four new casinos in New York.

In the Hudson Valley, Genting Americas is competing against developers who want to build casinos in Woodbury, Newburgh and Blooming Grove.

While the town board voted in favor of moving the project forward, it will be up to state officials to decide where the four new casinos will be built
