ARDSLEY - Hudson Valley roadways, train stations and airports filling up with holiday travelers.

Millions of people in the tri-state area were expected to be on the roadways this weekend.

To help ease congestion, New York State opened lane closures at road and bridge construction sites.

State police also increased patrols throughout the holiday weekend looking for drunken or distracted drivers, as well as those not wearing seatbelts.

State police issued 32,000 tickets last year during the holiday season. That includes 11,000 for speeding.

Those flying told News 12 they planned on arriving several hours early since they expected crowded airports.
