ARDSLEY - Memorial Day weekend has finally arrived and millions are expected to be hitting the roads.

Many residents say that after such a brutal winter, they are more than ready for the unofficial start of summer.

According to AAA, 36 million people will be driving to their weekend getaways this year, averaging 50 miles per trip, resulting in a one-percent increase from 2013.

Although fuel prices in the Hudson Valley typically are higher than the national average of $3.63, residents say they are not deterred and are excited to enjoy time with friends and family.
