Westchester dog up for national therapy award

MOUNT KISCO - A local therapy dog is now competing for one of the nation's most pretigious animal awards.

Stella, a poodle from New Rochelle, has already been named by the American Humane Association's as best in her category and is now one of seven nominees for the national Hero Dog Award.

At the Richmond Community Services in Mount Kisco, the standard poodle and her handler Marissa Levy are part of the lives of developmentally disabled adults and children.

The awards ceremony will take place on Oct. 6 in Los Angeles and will be a TV special on the Hallmark Channel on Nov. 8.
