YONKERS - A 48-year-old Yonkers mother and NYPD psychologist is awaiting sentencing after admitting in court Friday that she fired a .22-caliber handgun at her husband, striking him in the jaw.

Originally charged with attempted murder, Emily Dearden pleaded guilty to attempted assault as part of a plea deal.

Back in November 2013, she shot her husband in their bedroom and claimed someone had broken into their Pondfield Road West home.

Investigators found no sign of an intruder, but later discovered four weapons in the house.

Dearden will likely be sentenced to 3 ½ years.

According to investigators, Dearden was having an affair with a Texas finance company executive. She also told police that her husband was also having an extramarital affair.

The couple's daughters were sleeping inside the house when the shooting happened. As a result of the plea deal, she will only have visits with the girls and no contact with her husband.
