Nor'easter a boon for some HV businesses
The freak October nor'easter that dumped snow across the Hudson Valley last weekend has brought the best of times, and the worst of times, for some local businesses. Many companies lucky enough to have power say sales have been up this week. A Nanuet pizzeria owner says he can't make pies fast enough, as many residents can't cook at home. Nanuet's Hilton Garden Inn has been sold out for a week straight, as people look to escape their cold and dark homes. The same can't be said, however, for all local businesses. The Ramapo Athletic Training Center has been in the dark for the past six days. Owner Stanley Mann says he's called every day and his utility company keeps pushing back his restoration estimate. With each day the center remains closed, Mann says he loses more money.
