Police agencies across Westchester County have increased security leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden in the wake of the attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters.

The 42 law enforcement agencies across Westchester county are sharing information and monitoring any potential threats.

Yonkers police is the largest police department in Westchester with 611 officers. With a little more than 200,000 residents, Police Commissioner John Mueller says they are increasing patrols, monitoring social media and staying in touch with federal authorities.

“It's understanding what the issue is and the preparation and planning to make sure we have the resources we need to make sure everyone remains safe,” he said.

An internal FBI bulletin has warned of nationwide protests that may start later in the week and continue until Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20.

Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah, who has only been in office for a week, says she is already working with county police, as well as state and federal law enforcement partners, to share information and intelligence while also continuing to maintain public safety.

“This is not about politics,” she said Tuesday. “This is very much a part of public safety and the safety of our community and our country.”

Yonkers police say there have been no allegations of any of their members attending the rally or taking part in the attacks on the capitol.
