Nurse killed in Slate Hill collision
A Port Jervis nurse was killed in a head-on collision in Slate Hill Wednesday.
Marie Griffin, 57, was on her way to her job at Orange-Ulster BOCES in Goshen. Police say Griffin was traveling on Route 6 when a Toyota Camry crossed the center line and drove into the path of her Jeep.
Police say both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and transported by helicopter to the hospital. The driver of the Camry, 20-year-old Colin Smith, from New Hampton, was treated for internal injuries and a broken arm. Police say Smith was returning home from working a night shift. They are looking into the possibility that he dozed off while driving.
