Nyack Hospital eyes barring young visitors
In an effort to curtail the spread of the H1N1 virus and seasonal flu, Nyack Hospital is considering limiting patient visits.
Nyack Hospital Safety Officer Walter Dusseldorp says an advisory from the state Department of Health says hospital officials should be discussing not allowing visitors under the age of 12 to visit sick relatives.
Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis has already revised its visitation policy to limit the access of children to patients 18 years and older, and allow no more than two visitors per patient.
The Emergency Preparedness Committee at Nyack Hospital is scheduled to meet Friday to discuss the issue.
