Nyack H.S. closed campus program may be extended
Students at Nyack High School may have to spend another month confined to their closed campus during the school day.
Since the beginning of the school year, freshmen and sophomores have not been allowed to leave campus during school hours as a part of a pilot program imposed by the school board.
The school board says it may decide to extend the pilot program through Thanksgiving. It says the program was put in place to cut down on truancy and drug use among younger students.
The Board of Education is expected to take up the extension issue tonight at its regularly scheduled meeting.
