Men, women and children lined Main Street in Nyack to show their support for fallen troops on Memorial Day.
"I think it's time to remember especially World War I and World War II, the people who gave us what we have these days, and also to remember the people in Iraq," Matthew Vetting, of Ossining, said.
Bright faces took in the sights and sounds of the parade. Marching bands, elected leaders, fire departments and many more people showed their patriotism.
Nyack Mayor John Shields believes it's an enduring tradition that people will always be drawn to. "1866 was the first celebration, but I think it was about 1868 when it actually became official, so this goes back over 200 years and that's what we're really celebrating," Shields said.
