A Westchester County police officer was hit by a car in Scarsdale over the weekend.

SCARSDALE - A Westchester County police officer is listed in stable condition at the Westchester Medical Center this morning after being hit by a car in Scarsdale over the weekend.

Police say the accident happened Saturday night on the southbound Hutchinson River Parkway near Mamaroneck Road.

Witnesses say the officer was trying to help a driver in a broken down car when he was hit by a passing vehicle. No charges have been filed yet against the driver from Massachusetts.

News 12 has learned the driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol, but the investigation is ongoing.
