Nyack officials say a technical malfunction didn't allow the village to notify the public of a boil water advisory last night.

"The way [the advisory is] supposed to be issued is with a reverse 911 phone call to all of the residents with a landline in the district. What happened last night was a tremendous malfunction of the system," says Nyack Mayor Richard Kavesh.

While Nyack residents may not have known about the boil water advisory last night, emergency workers at the Rockland County's Office of Fire and Emergency Services say they didn't know there was a problem.

"The call went out around 6 p.m. last night and then we found out this morning that a number of folks didn't get the call, so another call went out this morning," says employee Pablo Ramos.
