Officials: Shrub Oak student doesn't have H1N1
Lakeland Central School District officials say none of its students are being tested for swine flu, despite earlier concerns that a Shrub Oak fifth-grader may have contracted the virus.
School officials originally thought the student, a fifth-grader at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, might have swine flu. But now officials say he had a different strain of flu.
"We have been informed by the health department that no student at Ben Franklin is being tested for the swine flu," says Dr. Kenneth Connolly, the Lakeland Central School District superintendent.
Officials say there are now 14 confirmed cases of the virus in Westchester County, including the latest over the weekend of a man in Yonkers and another in New Rochelle.
