An eighth-grader at a Tennessee elementary school was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment after authorities say he made a "kill list" that included his classmates.
A tip from a concerned parent, whose child saw threatening posts on social media, allowed the Cocke County Sheriff's Office to work quickly.
Reports say the 14-year-old boy voluntarily showed deputies the list, but said he only wanted to scare the classmates that were bullying him.
Parents in the school district said that the incident hits too close to home after the school shooting in Florida that killed 17 people, including students and teachers.
Cocke County Sheriff Armondo Fontes say the kill list showed motive to actually commit a shooting. He says the teen had access to a gun that was unlocked in his mother's bedroom.
Fontes says the student charged is getting mental health treatment and the students involved in any bullying have been spoken to by school officials.
