The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office says a woman was fatally shot in Bayonne early Sunday morning.

Officials say the incident happened at 484 John F. Kennedy Blvd.

The man accused of shooting the victim was just acquitted on murder charged last year.

Officials say Anthony Schuler was arrested just 90 minutes following the fatal shooting.

He had been acquitted in the 2010 death of Darren Edwards in Jersey City last year. After the verdict, he praised God, saying, "It is he who allowed me to undergo my struggle without doubt."

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.

Several neighbors say they were shocked to hear about the shooting because their neighborhood is normally quiet.
