Some residents on Olmstead Avenue in Unionport say they want two homes that were gutted by a fire last year to be demolished.
Three Bronx men were charged in connection with the massive June 2017 fire that officials say was sparked by illegal fireworks. Six neighboring houses were damaged.
One homeowner on the block says the area in front of the gutted homes has since become a dumping ground for discarded furniture, garbage and other items. They say it also attracts rats and illegal activity.
Both houses are under vacate orders by the city Department of Buildings.
Ahilia Singh, whose home was among the six damaged, says her attempts to get her neighbors to demolish their properties have been unsuccessful. She says she's called 311 and numerous community officials for help, but nothing has been done.
News 12 reached out to one of the owners of the property for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
