Orange County officials posted a cease and desist order Thursday on the door of Kiryas Joel's main synagogue following large, maskless gatherings.
The mass gatherings are considered in violation of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s executive order.
Hundreds of people were seen there on Sunday in Twitter photos without masks or social distancing.
The letter, addressed to congregants and the synagogue's president, warns of criminal charges if steps are not taken to immediately comply with state laws.
