Orange exec. closes government building due to weather damage
The Orange County Government Center, located on 255 Main St. in Goshen, has been shut down due to building conditions after heavy rain swept through the area. The ordered was handed down by Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana.
"The unrelenting rains have caused considerable building-related issues which have impacted the operations of the County Government Center," said Diana.
County employees who normally work at the building are being told to report today to the same location they reported to last week when the building was closed due to Hurricane Irene.
The County Clerk's Office will be operating out of the offices of the Department of Social Services located at 11 Quarry Road in Goshen from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Department of Motor Vehicles has alternative locations on 14 King St. in Middletown, 128 Broadway in Newburgh and 20 Hammond St. in Port Jervis.
Tax and Finance will be operating on the first floor of the County's Real Property Office located at 124 Main St.
The Department of Human Resources and Civil Service will be accepting applications for civil service exams at the DPW Administration building on Route 17M.
