Our Lady of Grace alum sponsors student through scholarship program she was in
A Bronx woman is giving back to a student at the school she attended years ago.
Marci Dillion, 25, grew up at Our Lady of Grace, attending the school from pre-K to eighth grade.
In fifth grade, Dillon was chosen by the Inner-City Scholarship Program, getting matched with a sponsor.
"It's almost like a pen pal and we created this bond and as I got older I really grew to have an appreciation for who they were and what they did for me," says Dillion.
Mia Wilson is currently a fifth-grader at Our Lady of Grace with a dream to help people and become a surgeon. Through the Inner-City Scholarship Program Wilson was given Dillion as her sponsor.
"I got a letter from Mia and I read it my heart melted," says Dillion.
She says she wants to show Mia what the sponsorship is all about.
"I'm not just someone behind a paper signing my name and a few words, I'm an actual person that can be here with you and you can reach out if you need advice," says Dillion.
