Parents demand superintendent be fired
Hundreds of angry parents and students packed the East Ramapo school board meeting Tuesday, demanding the superintendent be fired over controversial remarks he made.
Superintendent Joel Klein recently apologized for blaming the district's Hispanic community for its high dropout rates at a meeting back in August. He apologized again at Tuesday's meeting, but many attending say it wasn't enough.
Parents say Klein's comments are only part of the problems in the district, with some accusing the school board of treating their children like second class citizens. Many vow to keep attending school board meetings until things start to improve in the district.
