A Peekskill man now knows his fate in connection to a deadly Yonkers shooting.
Yaquba McGougain, 31 was sentenced Monday to eight years behind bars. He pleaded guilty on a weapons charge related to the death of Antonio Antoine-Fils.
The 21-year-old worked at Duo Tapas Bar and Lounge on Yonkers Avenue, where the shooting happened in February 2022. Another employee was also hurt, but survived.
The victim's sister spoke Monday in court.
"Imagine a mother that has to bury a child. Well, that's what my mom had to do. You ripped a piece of her heart and soul from her," Melissa Roman said.
The prosecutor said it didn't yield evidence that could prove other charges, such as murder, beyond a reasonable doubt.
