Heavy hearts in the city of Peekskill as the police department announces the death of Officer Gregory Jones.

A 24-year veteran, Jones will be remembered for his infectious smile and a passion of helping others. Jones was also a key fixture throughout the community.

He was a school resource officer and a D.A.R.E. instructor. Above all else, Jones was a great friend who always put a smile on others' faces.

His funeral will be this Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
