Peekskill residents ponder future of famous gubernatorial neighbor
Governor George Pataki (R-NY) will finish out his term in a few days and return to his hometown of Peekskill.
Pataki grew up in Peekskill, began his law practice there and started a family. He was elected mayor before running for the state Legislature and eventually governor. People in Peekskill are happy their favorite son is coming home, with a possible eye on higher office. Residents agree Pataki has been great for the state and the city as they welcome him back. Peekskill Mayor John Testa says he doesn?t know what Pataki's long-term plans are, but he feels the city would benefit from being in the national spotlight of a presidential bid.
