Pirro picks up endorsement from Yonkers firefighters in attorney general race
GOP candidate Jeanine Pirro picked up a key endorsement Saturday in her fight to become the next New York State attorney general.
Pirro, who trails her Democratic opponent Andrew Cuomo in the latest polls, received an endorsement from the Yonkers Firefighter's Union. Pirro says the endorsement is indicative of the breadth of support she is getting throughout the state.
Meantime, Andrew Cuomo picked up an endorsement from the New York Times. In response to Pirro's endorsement, the Cuomo campaign said, "We are proud that the New York Times endorsed Andrew Cuomo to succeed Eliot Spitzer and we are looking forward to continuing a steady stream of support across the state as we move closer to Election Day."
Some voters say they believe Pirro will close the gap in the coming weeks. And one political analyst says although Pirro is battling a 5 to 3 voter registration that favors the Democrats, he feels she can win based on her lengthy law enforcement record.
