Residents are expressing worries about what is going to happen to Nyack College's Rockland County campus' property after it closes.

Some gathered inside South Nyack Village Hall Tuesday night, seeking answers about the property's future. The private Christian college announced plans last week to move all operations to its Manhattan campus byfall 2019.

Officials say the move will keep down costs. Steps to help students in the transition posted online included a video message from school President Dr. Michael Scales.

But the community is hoping the sale of the 102-acre property could benefit them.

Dr. Frances Pratt says her church could use a section of the land for a parking lot. Other neighbors say it could be developed for public use.

Village trustees say the college will put the land up for sale on Jan. 1. Those officials say there are no back-door deals and that the village has been in contact with the consulting firm tasked with the sale.
