A plan to improve traffic and pedestrian safety on a busy Elmont road was unveiled Wednesday night.

It comes after four Elmont High School students were hit by a car on a stretch of Dutch Broadway when the car jumped the curb about a year and a half ago.

Nassau Department of Public Works officials and legislator Carrie Solages outlined the $4 million plan.

Solages says additional lighting, a new crosswalk and speed indicators are included in the plan.

He says construction is not set to start for at least a year and a half.
