Police: 6-year-old boy shot in the shoulder; hospitalized in stable condition

The Yonkers Police Department says a 6-year-old child was shot in the shoulder on Thursday.
Police say the child was shot near 62 Ash St. just after 6 p.m.
The child is in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
Several blocks in the surrounding area were cordoned off for the police investigation.
Police say they have three people in custody, and all of them are juveniles.
They say two handguns were recovered at the scene.
Officials say the boy was playing outside when he was shot.
Editor's note: Earlier versions of this story said an 8-year-old child had been shot in the chest, citing information released by Yonkers police. Police now say the child is 6 years old and was struck in the shoulder.
