11h agoA 9-year-old boy was hit by a pickup truck in Ramapo on Tuesday.
The child was struck shortly after 5 p.m. near Pioneer Avenue and North Airmont Road.
Ramapo police say the child exited the school bus and was hit by the pickup truck, before up under a minivan that was stopped in traffic.
A responding officer and bystanders lifted the minivan to get the child out from underneath it.
The child was taken to Westchester Medical Center and is now said to be in critical but stable condition.
A 43-year-old truck driver from Spring Valley stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
News 12 has learned the child attends Cherry Lane Elementary in the Suffern Central School District.

The district said that it will support the young victim's family, as well as provide additional clinical staff this week for students and staff.
The Chestnut Ridge bus company tells News 12 that it is are working with law enforcement and that "thoughts and prayers are with the student and his family during this difficult time."
