Police in Yonkers are investigating after a Catholic church was vandalized.
The tabernacle, pulpit and lectern at Annunciation Church, located on Westchester Avenue in the city's Crestwood section, were doused with brown paint at some point on Wednesday. The church's monsignor says the vandal got in through an unlocked door.
Parishioners are outraged, and say they believe their church was targeted. Authorities fingerprinted the altar, but have yet to make any arrests.
The church's custodian was able to steam clean the damaged areas, but the sacred veil covering the tabernacle was destroyed.
