Police arrest 1 for growing marijuana in Monroe
Police say they busted a $30,000 pot-growing operation at a Monroe home and arrested one man Monday.
Authorities received a tip from a resident who lives nearby that the home on Osseo Park Road in a secluded area could have marijuana growing inside. Police say 53-year-old Edward Vasquez had been cultivating the plants for several months. State police Senior Investigator John Van Der Molen says the upstairs of the home was converted into a greenhouse.
Vasquez faces drug charges, as well as accusations he stole electricity by illegally tapping into Orange and Rockland's utility lines to power the operation.
