Police arrest 2 brothers linked to thefts
Two brothers from Blooming Grove were taken into police custody Thursday morning for allegedly stealing expensive mechanics tools.
Whitney Burris, 19, and Shane Burris, 17, were arrested after leading police officers on a brief chase along Route 208.
According to police, the siblings stole chainsaws, floor-jacks and other tools out of a work van in Washingtonville. The Burris brothers are also suspected in other recent thefts.
"We've had a rash of car break-ins in Blooming Grove [and] Washingtonville," says Washingtonville Police Chief Stephen Pascal. "I believe Monroe and New Windsor may have had some also, but we believe that they are the ones responsible for it."
Police are asking the owners of the stolen tools to come forward and call the Washingtonville Police Department at 845-496-9123.
