A burglar wanted for stealing thousands of dollars from several Wallkill businesses was caught in the act by police.

Police say Robert Jones, of Middletown, tried to break into The Frosty Rock Creamery for the second time Tuesday night. They say he was apprehended while fleeing the store on a bicycle with a large pack. Investigators say Jones is responsible for dozens of burglaries along Route 211, dating back to February. Police believe Jones broke in through rooftops and broken windows.

Jones is charged with burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief and is being held without bail at Orange County Jail.
