Police chief claims ignorance about wife's teen parties
The Spring Valley police chief had nothing to do with his wife's alleged booze, drug and sex parties held for her son's friends, according to his attorney.
News 12 Hudson Valley found a note taped to the door of Police Chief Paul Modica's Sloatsburg home, which he once shared with his wife Beth, telling reporters to contact his lawyer.
The attorney stressed that the police chief and his wife are separated and that Paul Modica has custody of the couple's four children. Beth Modica is a former attorney for the Village of Sloatsburg.
"We are very shocked and saddened by these allegations. If they are true, we are deeply disappointed," said Mayor Carl Wright. "But remember, our thoughts and prayers go out with all people who may or may not have been involved."
An indictment is expected to be unsealed Tuesday against Beth Modica. She allegedly provided alcohol and drugs to her teenage son's friends and possibly had sex with one underage boy.
News 12 Hudson Valley has learned some of the boys may have worked with the couple's son at Camp Scuffy Day Camp in Tallman. The other boys are believed to be Suffern High School hockey teammates.Click here for team coverage of local reaction.
